What Should You Do to Prepare for a Septic Tank Pumping and Cleaning?

Schedule a Septic Tank Pump with Montgomery Sanitation Services, Inc.

If you have an appointment with Montgomery Sanitation Services, Inc., there are steps you can take to help prepare for your next septic tank pumping and cleaning appointment. This month, we have several tips on how to prepare for a septic pump with Montgomery Sanitation Services, Inc.

Find the Location of the Septic Tank

One of the first things that you should know before our septic technician’s visit is where your septic tank is located. If you do not know where your septic tank is, there is no need to worry. Submit a request for the installation permit to see what information is on file about your septic system. Montgomery Sanitation Services, Inc. is also able to aid in locating the septic tank though this may be limited to areas and scheduling availability. Afterward, consider maintaining thorough notes or even a sketch of your sewage system location. This way, you know where it is next time you need a septic pump or even repairs. Montgomery Sanitation Services, Inc. does not keep records of the location of every septic tank that is serviced.

Excavation of the Septic Tank

The septic tank lid should be uncovered of any dirt/debris to be considered exposed. The septic tank lid being exposed ensures that there will be no additional fees added for onsite technicians to access the septic tank lid to complete the service. Montgomery Sanitation Services, Inc. is also able to aid in exposing the septic tank by hand-digging up to 24 inches. If the septic tank is deeper than 24 inches other arrangements will be made. To avoid future digging, ask about having us install risers for future access.

Clear the Path, and Make Sure Our Tanker Can Reach Your Septic Tank

If your septic tank is more than 150 feet away from the driveway, please give us a heads-up. We will need to find a way to move our truck closer or bring an extra hose. Clear the driveway of any vehicles, snow/ice, other obstacles before we arrive. Also, trim the grass surrounding your tank, remove mulch, and let us know of any low-hanging wires or tree branches.
